POLYMER

The interactive exhibit Polymer is an experimental approach to demonstrate media theory. With Polymer the complexity of media theory is easily accessible. The theorists Jean Baudrillar, Vílem Flusser, Friedrich Kittler and Marshall McLuhan have distinct views about the topic. The parallel presentation of various views gives a very well understanding how different points of views come together in media theory.
The user controls the terms with a trackball to explore the relations and contexts of the different theories and to experience the network of terms from media theory.

RIBBON

The interactve application shows a database of contemporary designers and their work. Beyond the usual taxonomy of communcation design, product design, print media or online media, RIBBON is looking for connections and new insights between the stakeholders in the design business.
The user can select different stakeholders from the list of archived designers. Then their different projects are shown in a coordinate system of the axis “rational – emotional”; “linear – interactiv” and “narrative – explorative”.
In the result the visualization shows for each a developement over time and how the projects influence each other. In that way even different design approaches are comparable and users discover trends and tendencies in contemparary design.

FUTURE OCEAN

Exhibition Design for the Cluster of Excellence “Future Ocean”. The main idea was to set an emotional counterpart to the cluster’s scientific facts and figures. Therefore an abstract deep sea environment was created by gloomy ambience, floor and ceiling projections and floating marine instruments.

The exhibition concepted for the “Tag der Deutschen Einheit” in Kiel in October 2006 was also shown in Kiel in June 2007 and in Oct 2007 in the “Landesvertretung Schleswig-Holstein” Schleswig-Holstein’s Representation to Berlin.

WATCH OUT

This is a 60 sec. trailer for the BBC-project “Breathing Places – a place for nature near you”. By transforming structures of the city to floral ornaments their contrast is illustrated. It was my student project at the Norwich School of Art and Design (today Norwich University College of the Arts) during my semester abroad 2006.
